WorldPride in Amsterdam: safety starts with feeling welcome

From 25 July to 8 August 2026, the very first WorldPride took place in Amsterdam—a global event focused on visibility, equality and connection within the LGBTQI+ community. This year’s theme: Unity, coming together as one community.

For ARMONIA, it was a moment to reflect on what inclusion at work really means. Not with big policy statements, but in small, everyday moments: are you addressed the way you feel comfortable, can you talk about your partner openly, do you feel free to be yourself?

That feeling starts at the entrance, especially with reception and security services. A friendly greeting, making eye contact, an open attitude—small things, but they set the tone immediately. Security is no longer just about checking who comes in, but also about how people feel once they’re through the door. Hospitality and vigilance go hand in hand: when people feel welcome, they feel more at ease.

Whether you’re at reception, working in security, or sitting at your desk, everyone helps create that atmosphere. Maybe that’s the true core of safety—not only knowing you can enter, but truly feeling welcome inside.
