ARMONIA and Prinses Máxima Centrum: security with a human touch for vulnerable children

Situation
Security focused on vulnerable children
At Prinses Máxima Centrum, care and research on childhood cancer are brought together at a single location. In mid-2017, ARMONIA was approached to manage security for the new centre. The project quickly proved unlike any other: the centre’s aim was not to be a hospital, but a place where children can continue to develop, with warm and effective services at its core.
Our approach
Security Hosts who are above all hosts
In an environment where children and their families stay, you need security guards who are approachable and accessible. ARMONIA’s Security Hosts naturally focus on hospitality. They act just as much as hosts as they do as security guards. During recruitment and selection, we placed even greater emphasis on personality than usual.
- Selection based on personality and soft skills, not only qualifications
- Complete openness about the work environment during interviews
- Ongoing aftercare and peer support for Security Hosts
Result
Benefits immediately visible
Human-centred security: Children, families and employees are supported and guided, not just protected.
Careful selection: Only candidates prepared for the emotional impact of the work environment are hired.
Aftercare for employees: Security Hosts share experiences and can rely on support from ARMONIA.
